Satya Linak grew up in an artistic environment encouraged to explore her creativity. Then, at 19, she was diagnosed with cancer, which completely changed her life. She found that experimenting with wigs and makeup allowed her to feel much better about herself. It was more than simple eye shadow or lipstick; it was internal and transformational in body and spirit. Three years later, having successfully battled cancer twice, her passion came alive. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming a makeup artist. Her career in film, television, and print has evolved along with her artistry. In addition to her passion for makeup, she is an award winning jewelry designer: winner of a 2004 Jewelry Arts Award, and a 2007 Saul Bell Design Award.
The wisdom Satya received in surviving such a drastic illness caused her to realize the dynamic gift that had been given to her should be shared with others. This led her to Cedars-Sinai Oncology Department to aid others being challenged by cancer. |
